Nepal Police Generate Over Rs 2.24 Billion in Revenue in Five Months

Kathmandu: The Nepal Police have raised more than Rs 2.24 billion in revenue within the first five months of the current fiscal year 2081/82 BS, according to officials. The revenue was collected through fines and penalties across various categories as part of the police’s intensified efforts to combat illegal activities under a special action plan.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and spokesperson for Nepal Police, Bishwa Adhikari, disclosed that the revenue was generated from 10 different sectors, including the seizure of illegal goods, traffic fines, recovery of illegal gold and silver, and actions against unlawful money transfers.

Breaking down the figures, Rs 905.7 million (40.42%) came from the confiscation of illegal goods, while Rs 520.7 million was collected in traffic fines. Another Rs 427.4 million was raised through the implementation of court verdicts, and Rs 262.9 million came from recovering illegal gold and silver.

Additionally, Rs 43.7 million was collected from the recovery of illegal currency, Rs 29 million from undisclosed sources, and Rs 12 million from the seizure of illegal timber. Campaigns targeting illegal money transfers and trades brought in Rs 18.3 million, while Rs 11.6 million was raised through livestock control efforts and Rs 9.2 million from tackling illegal river-based mining.

The detailed report, which spans the period from July to December, highlights the police's commitment to maintaining law and order while generating significant revenue through these actions. The Nepal Police Headquarters emphasized that such initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities and enhance public safety.
